Description | As the center kaza of Jerusalem has now become prosperous and its population has increased except Jaffa Gate, the central square where carriages stop remains insufficient and the narrowness of the square causes trouble for the traffic. In consideration of this issue under the jurisdiction of the municipality, it has been decided that the locale whose building taxes pertain to the residence of the multazim and the adjacent locale used as a salt storehouse from of old shall be completely demolished and reconstructed at another place where they would not impede traffic. In addition, as the land, which is located behind these said buildings and belongs to the families of Hüsnüzâde Abdüsselâm Effendi and Camûni falls within the site of artillery shooting, it is also prohibited to construct a building in this land. According to the decision taken by our Council, it would be better for everyone if the municipality purchased these places and the said places were interconnected into a stopping place for carriages in accordance with the Confiscation Regulation. If also deemed suitable by the Sanjak Administrative Council, it is now considered that the amount to be spent as the cost of the land and structures to be confiscated shall be included into the budget of 1311 (1895-1896) to be covered from construction incomes. It is appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council. The 5th of Tishrîn Thânî (1)310 (17th of November 1894). [7 signatures] |
