Description | Upon the petition, presented on 14 September 1904 by the persons named Cebir Hayat, Muhammed Cevher and Abdullah Ali from the village of Beyt Facar, and relegated to our council In the letter, dated 22 August 1904 and numbered 85, presented by the Kaymakamlık of Halil to the office of mutasarrifate and relegated to our council, it was stated that the Beyt Akâb Directorate reported that some people from the village of Beyt Facar subordinate to Halil would uproot the valonia oaks in the village of Dirbân and transfer them to Jerusalem and that these would be confiscated if it turns out through control that the said wood are from trees with roots. The forester and the municipal inspector were then sent to the Jerusalem railroad station and the said wood was checked by them. As a result of this control, it turned out that among this wood, which was 121 kantar in weight, 30 kantar were from trees with roots. In the decision, dated 22 March 1904 and numbered 38, taken by the Sanjak Administrative Council as regards this matter, it is stated that no one should be never allowed to cut down and uproot olive trees specifically and all other trees in general and that, apart from the necessary penalty to be imposed on the concerned merchants, the cost of the confiscated wood must be given to the said office. Hence, 30 kantar of the wood, proven to be from trees with roots, were confiscated and sold for 1,209.1 piasters at a rate of dâric-i bender, and the yields registered as incomes for the municipal fund. The remaining 91 kantar of wood were submitted to the petitioners and it is appropriate to relegate the matter to the municipal police force so as to explain the situation to them. The 2nd of Aylûl (1)320 (15th of September 1904). |
