Description | The council found out that the place rented from Bâsîl al Fatlah for the accommodation of sellers, such as peasant women and others, was (illegible). Given the wide space of this place and its distance from residents, it became difficult to gather peasant women there. Since the goal of the rental was not achieved and the rent was paid without any benefits, it was decided to break the mentioned contract. Upon discussions with the landlord, the two parties agreed to put an end to the contract on condition that the landlord is given a sum of two and a half liras for the past four and a half months, which extend from Rabî‘ al Thânî, until the 12th of Shabaan (1)319. All timber and tiles will be left to him according to the contracting provisions and a receipt will be taken from him. He agreed to the terms and the matter was assigned to the council. The recommendation to break the mentioned rent was given and the two and a half liras were paid. In order to obtain approval, this decision was taken on the 10th of Tishrîn Thânî (1)317 (23rd of November 1901). [6 signatures] |
