Description | Examination has been made about the letter relegated on 25 June 1898 to our council regarding giving a license for the reparation of four shops, which are real estates of the Greek patriarchate, and located in the Nasari neighborhood in Jerusalem, and for the construction of a household on its top. Inspection has been made about the location of the buildings to be repaired and constructed, and it has been understood that, on the eastern side, the width of the road located at the front is five archines and two sülüs; and on the western side, it is 5.25 archines. As these shops will only be repaired and there will be no need to leave for the road, a license has been given for their reparation and the construction on its top of a house with ten rooms, a kitchen and a saloon. In the report given by inspection officials, it has been stated that, after the demolition of the said shops and without leaving any space for the road, 5 shops in total have been constructed, four of which is 18 meters in length, 8 meters in height, and one of which, located in its top, is 2 meters in its current length and 2 meters in height. Although the said road has an obvious importance, it is appropriate to notify the monastery’s patriarchate that, as, among the current old buildings, there are many kinds of the fifth type specified in the Public Buildings Regulation. In effect, there would be difficulties and it would be necessary to carry it out within the said type; i.e., that these roads’ facade overlooking to the road must be demolished in order to leave the necessary space for increasing it to eight archines. The 9th of Tishrîn Thânî (1)314 (21st of November 1898). [8 signatures] |
