Description | In accordance with public health conditions, it has been announced to all butchers in Jerusalem (al-Quds al-Sharîf) that the council has decided that meat should be transported properly in clean wooden boxes at all times. Besides, meat is to be covered with a small cloth while transported, and to arrive in the Old City by one hour in the morning maximum. Intestines and offal are not to be brought into the Old City. Also, meat should be covered inside stores with a small cloth or to be put inside special cages to keep it clear from flies. Butcheries should be painted every two weeks by white painting (Shîd) and butchers should take care of hygiene conditions inside and outside their stores. So, whoever disobey these rules will be punished by law starting from Wednesday the 9th of Huzayrân (1)315. In order for this to be known, these directions were published on the 6th of Huzayrân (1)315 (18th of June 1899). [No signatures] |
