Description | In accordance with the telegram that arrived with honor from the part of the central government dated on the 15th of Aylûl (1)310, and with the decision of the administration council of the district (al-liwâ’) dated on the 22nd of of Aylûl (1)310; that obligate to have fire engines in all the regions of the empire (sâ'ir al-mamâlik al-mahrûsah), it has been found that the sub-district (sanjaq) of Jerusalem needs six fire engines. Accordingly, it has been agreed with one of the merchants called Artûr Ildar the German to bring the mentioned six fire engines along with ninety meters of cloth for the hydrant for the amount of one hundred thirty one French Liras and eight franks, with the exception of the fees of customs and other expenses expected [for shipping] from Jaffa to Jerusalem. Half of this [above] mentioned amount, which is sixty five and a half Liras, is to be paid in advance, while the other half is to be paid upon receiving the mentioned fire engines in Jaffa. In order to take the needed proof on the [above-] mentioned contractor and to pay him the mentioned amount of sixty five Liras and four franks out of two thousand seven hundred and fifty piasters sâgh coming from Gaza, and the rest [of the amount] from the treasury of the municipality council in Jerusalem, until ====?? this decision has been taken on the 28th of Tishrîn Thânî (1)310.
