Description | Our council member Nikola Effendi went to the village of Deyr-i Dîvan. Alongside with Abdülmecid bin Muhammed, who had been informed that there were grasshopper eggs, the village mukhtar and the board of aldermen, he went to observe relevant spots. It has been understood that there are grasshopper eggs in various towns at a five hour distance from the village, and at the site reaching from the eastern side of the place known as Arzu’l-cenne (?) around the dilapidated Gavri Riha (?) to the frontier of the Avce course. Although efforts were made by Nikola Effendi to exterminate them within the bounds of possibility, it is hard to destroy them all, as eggs are not situated above the ground. The hereby presented record given by the village mukhtars puts forth that these eggs appear in fall, so it is then that extermination must be handled. The 7th of Tammûz (1)314 (19th of July 1898). |
