Description Khawâja Dâwûd Talîl, the contractor of one of the shops in the municipal garden, has told us that he prefers to compensate for the tiles which he was supposed to lay in the mentioned shop with wood. Since he is the tenant of this shop and since tiles don’t suit his needs due to the goods and purchasers, he has pledged to take out the wood at the end of his lease and replace it with cement tiles. This is a reasonable practice, so it was recommended to approve his request and a pledge was taken from the tenant. When his lease expires, he will lay out the tiles according to the conditions imposed upon him and in line with the inspection, or will pay the price of the tiles to the council’s treasury. In order to obtain approval, this decision was taken on the 19th of Kânûn Awwal (1)317 (1st of January 1902).
