Description | The weighing belonging to the treasury, waqfs and the municipality is a tax taken upon weighing merchandise coming to towns from outside. In the sanjak of Jerusalem, and in the towns of Jaffa, Gaza and Bethlehem, the said tax belongs to the municipality and goods funds in half; and in the towns of Jerusalem and Hebron, it belongs to the waqfs, undertaken by the government by way of auction. If a weighing is made at a charge by someone other than the multazim, the treasury and waqfs’ steelyard will become non-functional. Thus, it is hereby stated that such an act is prohibited.
