Description We announce to all traders and guilds that in accordance with the order that arrived with honor from the part of the central government dated on the 22nd of Tishrîn Thânî ----- [holding] number 10?, it is urgent to circulate the use of ounces and weights in accordance with the decimal rules in all the regions of the empire. [Thus,] a complete year starting on the first of Mârt (1)311 has been assigned to undertake using the weights above-mentioned by number. In order to make it easy for the guilds, they could make the necessary measures in stores which they choose. However, to guarantee the validity of [these measurements], they should be examined by the municipal department in Jerusalem. If one of the traders has a contract == according to the old weights, he should [though] fix it within the assigned period to undertake [using] the new weights. In order for this to be known, these directions were announced on the 8th of Kanûn 'Awwal (1)310.
