Description | Eating the meat of weak, ill and pregnant animals is unhealthy and can lead to a series of diseases, so the slaughter of such animals is strictly forbidden. Therefore, in order to prevent this, it is necessary that the black cattle and sheep to be slaughtered be henceforth examined by the veterinarian inspector at the slaughterhouse; a license be given by him for slaughter if the animals in question are deemed healthy and edible; and the animals in question be stamped a special mark before their entrance on the market. It has been decided that, in case that any unstamped meat is found, this be informed by inspection officials and in accordance with law, it be considered as legal and a fine be imposed. In order to announce and warn the butchers who are Ottoman subjects that the veterinarian inspector will start their work and go to the slaughterhouse every day from the beginning of Tuesday coinciding with the fifth day of February (18 February 1902), it is appropriate to make notifications to all consulates. The 31st of Kânûn Thânî (1)317 (13th of February 1902). [6 signatures] |
