Description In accordance with the beginning of water sprinkling out of Jaffa Gate up to the municipal hospital, a Dutch auction contract has been written for the fees of sprinkling from four hundred to six hundred water skins. And in agreement with the applicants, the auction was decided in favor of ‘Ismâ’îl ======?? for an amount of twenty two piasters for every one hundred water skins. Since the mentioned [tax farmer] has already sprinkled only the lower area on Wednesday the 12th of Mâyis, and then because of his illness ====, therefore it would be useless to bring suit against him. Accordingly, it has been decided [by the council] to nullify this contract and to supervise it by proxy for nine days starting on Friday the 14th of Mâyis (1)314 until Saturday the 22nd with the knowledge of sprinkling officers i. e. Yahyâ Effendi al-‘Imâm and Mahmûd Aghâ. Also, it has been decided on the council level to sprinkle the upper area from the Russian buildings up to the municipal council by proxy from the water cistern of sharlûtah?? road belonging to the municipality and from the water cistern of al-Sarûfiyyah with the knowledge of the above-mentioned officers. [Thus,] the amount of money needed for [sprinkling] the first and the second areas will be temporarily paid by the end of every week until the barrels contracted with the director of the Israelite school (the Aliance) are done. ====?? In order for this to be approved in accordance with the conditions written, this decision was taken on the 25th of Mâyis (1)315 (6th of June 1899).
