Description | A report presented by second Effendi engineer of the municipality dated on the 9th of Kânûn Thânî (1)317, stated that the sewer located in the Moroccan quarter was damaged and full of dirt. It needs a sum of 1570 piasters to be paid in installments. Upon making inquiries from owners of property next to the mentioned sewer, it became evident that there were 17 houses belonging to the Abî Madyan al Ghûsh Waqf and three to other people. Accordingly, Hâj Bashîr Effendi, Shaykh al Maghâribah was brought in and in a discussion about the above mentioned expenses, he said he cannot pay anything, if he was not given permission from the district administrative council. A report was given from our council dated on the 1st of Kânûn Thânî (1)317, number 202 to the district administrative council. Upon deliberations, it appeared that delaying the repairs of the sewer will further increase damages and could affect neighboring buildings. The council has decided to pay the needed sum for repairs from the council’s treasury, and if any money is collected from property owners, it will be registered in the revenues. In order to pay the mentioned sum from the council’s treasury and start work with the knowledge of one of us, Sa‘d al Dîn Effendi and engineer Nasrî Effendi, this decision was taken on the 16th of Kânûn Thânî (1)317 (29th of January 1902).
