Description | It is clear that use of stream sand in the reparation and improvement of roads will not bring the solidity that the use of sea sand would bring; and if both stream sand and sea sand are used for road work, both of them will deteriorate in winter days. It was later understood that stream sand had been used depending on this consideration. In our council’s record dated 23 June 1898 and in the Sanjak Administrative Council’s letter dated 25 June 1898, it has been decided that, 740 cubic meter of sand be used in the making of roads being constructed by our council, with each cubic meter at a rate of 81.3 piasters, adding up to an approximate sum of sixty thousand piasters. However, as it has turned out that the said expenses would be in vain, a Dutch auction has been organized for bringing stream sand. It has been decided that each cubic meter of sand be brought at a rate of 11.5 piasters, with the total expense of the said 740 cubic meter adding up to 8,510 piasters. Even though our council has considered to make do with stream sand, it is appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council for negotiating the issue at hand. The 16th of Tammûz (1)314 (28th of July 1898). |
