Description | It is the case some misinformation and rumors make their way into Jerusalem from some quarters, the reason of which is that the journals based in Jerusalem cannot subscribe to a telegraph company due to their circumstances. Therefore, it has been decided by the municipal association that, if a company is established in Jerusalem for subscribing to the Ottoman Telegraph Company founded in İstanbul, this company be provided with 4,500 piasters as respected current akçe from the municipal fund. However, such a company has not yet been established due to the disagreements among the journalists in Jerusalem. Due to the poverty of people, the revenues of the schools of the Rawdah of Education and the Primary Madrasa, both established in our city, do not suffice for a proper functioning of these schools; hence, it has been requested by the administrations of the said schools that a small amount be provided by the municipality as is the case in other civilized localities. It is stipulated that, unless such a company is founded, the amount allotted to the said journals in the budget cannot be expended. And it appears that it is not possible to establish such a company. Thus, it has been preferred by our council that the said amount be provided to these institutions, endowing the children of the country with education and training, as a subsidy of 2,700 piasters to Rawdah of Education and 1,700 piasters to the Primary Madrasa. As regards negotiating the matter and explaining the due course of action to be taken in respect thereof, it is appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council. The 10th of Mayîs (1)326 (23rd of May 1910). |
