Description | It is long-established practice in Jerusalem to take 2 piasters for each donkey and horse, and 4 piasters for each ox and camel in exchange for the livestock sale tax pertaining to the Goods’ and Municipal funds. However, it is not lawful for the center and related units to irregularly take a tax, in defiance of the instituted legislature, from animals sold at markets. Hence, in accordance with the tax incomes regulation enacted, it was decided last year that the said tax be taken on the basis of the value of the sold animals. With reference to this, the said taxes were again put on Dutch auction in this manner in Jerusalem, and they were deposited at a rate of 15,100 piasters by Abdurrahman Salâhi, Hasan Yunus and Muhiddin Ganaim under the guarantee of Osman Ganaim and Sa'id Yunus. Despite necessary incentives, no other suitor has come up yet; hence, it has been considered to lower the price limit and put them on deposit. Unless no other suitor comes up for bidding, it would be more suitable to contract them out at the said costs rather than on governmental account, it is thus appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council for taking due action in respect thereof, following an evaluation on this subject by the Sanjak Accounting. The 31st of March (1)325 (13th of April 1909). |
