Description | The narrowness of the Bab-al-Halîl point, regarded as one of the busiest spots in the kaza of Jerusalem, a point reserved for the passage of the whole people that has gained more importance than all the neighborhoods of the kaza with the advances in development, is obvious. Therefore, it creates trouble and difficulty for people passing through it. In order to facilitate the passage through there, it has been considered appropriate that the ditch, located inside and outside the town, one half of which, in accordance with the recent decrees, belongs to the Treasury and the other half to the municipality, and which now remains in an idle condition, be filled with soil and integrated to the road. Besides, it has also been considered appropriate that necessary improvements and reparations be made in some parts of the old fortress, shaping it into a proper form in the eyes of everyone, and that a museum and a library be established there. It has been understood that the said construction would approximately require an expense of 5,000 lira. It is appropriate that the Sanjak General Council first negotiate the issue of the transfer of the said ditch to the municipality, as it desperately needs a regulation with regard to the direction of the road and the town in general; and that a permission is given for the required authority in this respect. The 21st of Tishrîn Thânî (1)326 (4th of December 1910). |
