Description | Attempts by Greek religious in Bethlehem to violate the current status quo by obtaining the express or tacit assent of the local authority to acts performed by them in order to prove that they are the sole owners of the public square in front of the large church and of the cemetery used as a passage to the Latin convent. Strange monopoly of scanning that they tried to establish by a material fact. Fight that followed. They want to sweep away alone this public space and these places of public and indispensable passage of Christians of all faiths and even Muslims, in order to prove that they are the only owners to the exclusion of the Latin and Armenian communities. Requests, to the governor, the order to have himself swept and to officially prevent, whoever it is from sweeping, until further order of the Gate concerted with the protective embassy of European Catholic institutions. As for the rest: maintaining the status quo. (PP. 6-9) |
