Description | Military expedition beyond the Jordan and the Dead Sea under the direction and command of the Vali of the Syrian vilayet Réchid Pacha and the chief general of the Arabistan army Dervisch Pacha. Occupation of Salt where the headquarters are located. A planned garrison settlement in Salt and Karak, whose Greco-Roman fortresses and crusades are being rebuilt, in Maan and Bethlehem. Construction of a bridge over the Jordan. Project for the immediate creation, by the army, of a road from Jerusalem to Jaffa. Orders sent to the governors of Jaffa and Ramlé[Ramlah], to facilitate the prompt transport, to Jerusalem on camels, the materials for the cap of the great cupola of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
