Description | Appointment of a Vicar General (Italian) of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. It should be demanded that the decision of the Propaganda Congregation authorizing the Brothers of the Christian Schools to establish themselves in various localities in Palestine be finally given full and complete effect. P.S. of May 3, 1880 Acknowledgement of receipt of the telegram concerning the appointment of the Vicar General of the Patriarchate. At a time when the Ottoman government is making the teaching of French compulsory in its schools, can the Holy See do less than help a general trend in the East, the results of which it is hopeful will be good both for French influence and for Catholicism?
