Description | Saladin's hospice. [illegible] to transform into legitimate property, into the domain of the Crown of France, by donation of the Ottoman government after the acquisition of this massif, the Wakouf, by[illegible] Ottoman Crown. Transfer by France of the perpetual use of its domain to the European Latin clergy our official proteges: Franciscan Custody for his convent. Latin Patriarchate for the apartments he needs. France keeping the bare ownership in perpetuity. Only way to paralyse the hostile and jealous efforts of other Christian denominations by getting out of the negotiation and property discussions of the three rival denominations. The only way to observe a strict but beneficial neutrality between the establishments of the protectorate: the Latin Patriarch and the Franciscan Custody. (PP. 143-150) |
