Description | None of the reparation measures granted by the Gate has so far been executed in Jerusalem. The expected effect was destroyed by this unspeakable procrastination. Public opinion has reacted negatively. On a formal order from the Gate to the Pasha, the re-installation and constant display of national colors on the consular hotel is a simple and easy act. Our faithful friend the Nakib al Eschraf[nakib el-eshraf ] or Chief of the Grand Mandé in Saint John-d'Acre by Essad Pacha, - imprisoned - indicted and threatened with exemplary punishment upon the arrival of the new Pasha for having told the truth about the events in which Jerusalem was the scene on 29 July last. An attachment. (PP. 110-119) |
