Description | Palestine south of Jerusalem is quiet. The Pasha carries troops north to raise taxes. Disorders in Bethlehem repressed. Rumours spread about the Pasha of Egypt to whom the Gate would give the administration of Syria under lease. Congratulations from the British consul on the providential protection recently granted to the French royal family. Sending the statements of income and expenditure of the Jaffa agency. The same states for Ramlé and Nablus agencies cannot be sent. (pp. 367-368) |
