Description | Provisional management of the consulate chancery first by Mr Philibert then by Mr C. Abdelal. Salary to be assigned to these two employees. Arrival in Jaffa of the French war corvette Diligente. Good effect produced by its presence. Holy Week and the Easter holidays took place without collision. The question of the carpet raised but drowsy. Need for its solution. Honours to be given to the French consul neglected on Palm Sunday. Complaints on this subject. The claims of the Sardinian consul always manifest themselves more or less directly. Unsatisfactory situation of the Reverend's health and intelligence. Recall of Father Paolo da Moretta announced but not executed. Current provisions of the Discreet towards France. Claim of a sum of 7,500 colonates made by Jews against the Holy Land. The Holy Land has no receipt even though its records mention the discharge of this debt. The consul is seeking advice for the solution of this case. Proposal made by the convent and rejected by the consul to have this case tried by the two consuls of France and Sardinia combined. Acknowledgement of receipt of the February 17, 1847 circular on cross-band notices to health authorities. (pp. 427-430) |
