Description | Latin Christmas ceremonies ended in the most perfect order despite the apprehensions linked to the disorders of April 25, 1873 and the state of hostility in which the two main communities[Latin and Greek] were held. Details on this state of hostility. The Russian consul, like the previous year, did not go to Beitlehem[Bethlehem], it was at the Russian church that the Cyrillians attended the Christmas celebrations. Cyril's supporters, despite being persecuted by Kiamil Pasha, seem more determined than ever not to recognize the current Patriarch. (PP. 3-6) |
