Description | Removal (with the authorization of the Ottoman government and the formal consent of the three clergy) of two heaps of stones forming benches in front of the large entrance gate of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Discovery of the tombstone of a French knight, Philippe d'Aubigny. Presence of the commander of the staff and forty-six sailors of the Emperor's corvette: "The Catinat" who were witnesses with us of these facts. Funeral service at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the repose of the soul of Emperor Maximilian. Completion of the dome drum and stop of work at the point requested by Mr Mauss. P.S. Arrival of Mr. Clermont-Ganneau. 6 appendices[in Italian, Turkish Ottoman, with translations; map of the tomb of a French knight, Saint-Sépulcre] and copy of dispatch No. 39 to the Embassy, July 18, 1867.
