Description | Sending to Palestine, as imperial commissioner, of Eyoub Pasha, intimate confidant of Réchid Pasha and fierce enemy of the General farmer Moustapha Saïd Bey. Sovereign power of Eyoub Pasha with the full powers of the Gate. Haidar Pasha was forced to carry out his orders and recognize his absolute authority. Property of Moustapha Bey sequestered; his head put a price after prior refusal to check his accounts. Moustapha Bey forced to withdraw to Egypt. Acts of barbarity and brutality of Eyoub Pasha. Uprising in Gaza district and Bedouin invasion of the plain. (pp. 173-178) |
