Description | [Dispatch and copy] M. de Nowikoff sends to Petersburg the architects' collective and identical memorandum concerning the rebuilding of the great dome and the construction of the temporary shelter. Mr. Kartzoff sends a large scale model of the dome and rotunda of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to Petersburg. On a similar model in Jerusalem, please note the following changes: 1° the identical report of the architects of 25 July 1863; 2° the drawings already made by M. Eppinger and those of M. Mauss when they are finished; 3° the agreement of the cabinets on the three points in dispute: subsequent place and use: A. of the door - B. of the lamps - C. of the four evangelists and D. of their inscriptions or the deletion of these inscriptions according to the protocol. Thought to submit (in the event of non agreement) the interpretation of the protocol, as for these last four points, to arbitration either by the great powers, or by the signatory powers of the Treaty of Paris or by a secondary power not directly interested in the question; by a sovereign who is, personally neither Greek nor Armenian, nor Latin: the King of the Belgians for example. Why the consul comes back to this question. P.S. Arrival in Jerusalem of M. de Challié, captain of the ship commanding the frigate of His Majesty the Impetuous. Thanks for the arrival of Mr. Ch. Ledoulx as a drogman without a permanent residence. In annex, copy of a dispatch addressed to the French Ambassador in Constantinople. (PP. 150-163) |
